AWA Website

Long-time AWA members have seen many changes with AWA and its publications. Below is a short summary of the AWA’s web presence and this site’s evolution.
History
The AWA website has been a member resource and of interested other site visitors for over 10 years, first under the leadership of Chuck Schwark and today, Richard Neidich. The current site was introduced in 2013 with the opening of the newly expanded AWA Museum facilities.
Pictured to the right is a photo of Chuck with the long-time AWA Journal Editor, Marc Ellis. The photo was taken when Chuck received a Special Service Award in 2013 for his efforts to support the AWA as the website administrator.

Pictured to the right is an image of the website’s home page appearance as of 2019. In the past few years, its resources have been expanded to include the ability to join or renew your dues as well as supported many event announcements, post event stories and many photo essays. As the activities of the AWA Museum are focused on all classes of membership and the public, the website needed to update its appearance and content offerings.

A meeting with AWA staff leadership was held in November 2019 and the scope of the update effort was discussed. During the winter months a new site was constructed and available late in the winter of 2019-2020. Not to worry, the site’s address has not changed, just its appearance and content.
The site’s physical publishing efforts (in the case of a website publishing is the formatting, drafting and publishing of new content) is the last step of operation for the website. The first step is the identification of need for new content and the collection of that content. (Just as a newspaper uses reporters and photographers, so does a website.)
Future
Today the site is a “work in progress”. So where is it’s future?
If you have any wishes for the new site’s content or services to you, take a minute and send a message to the site administrator. A link for sending an e-mail is available at the bottom of the website’s pages. (The Website Administrator’s contact and other key individuals can be found on the Website Administrator’s contact page.)
