Amplitude Modulation QSO Party
The AWA Amplitude Modulation QSO Party brings awareness to the AM mode by hearing lots of AM stations on the bands. For many, this is the first time they have operated AM. You do not need to be an AWA member to operate this or any other AWA “On Air” events. Please send in your logs even if you work a single station!
Although Vintage gear is encouraged, you will hear modern gear on during this event. Whatever generates an AM signal may be used. This event has some of the friendliest people you will hear on the air. Your will notice a nice relaxed format where people often chat between QSO’s. In addition, there are some pretty good multipliers based on the power of your transmitter. If you have a great antenna, it pays to turn down the power! For those with 20M AM capability, there is a great multiplier for operating 20M.
AM is enjoying a robust recovery using a variety of methods, including both traditional and modern technologies. Let’s show the amateur community that AM is alive and well.
