Looking past the marine exhibit is a small area devoted to broadcasting. Just out of sight is a large microphone exhibit and a 1915 DeForest Radiophone. The large transmitter to the left is station WEAF's experiment with high-fidelity broadcasting in the pre-FM days. Although you could broaden the bandwidth, you could not control static, and the experiments ultimately failed. |
