2019-03-07 John Rollins Memorial DX Contest

It’s time to get ready for the John Rollins Memorial DX Contest coming up on March 13th & 14th as well as March 16th and 17th.  The gear for this event is prior to 1960, so it’s easy to acquire.  No excuses for not being on having fun during this event!   If you don’t have vintage gear, you can still operate modern gear, but without the multiplier advantage.  Bands of operation will be 40 and 20 meters.  Hope to work you during the event! For full details, visit the AWA website here.

2018-01-08 AWA Gateway Hiatus

The AWA Gateway is now in hiatus due to the lack of a volunteer editor.  All past issues are available on the AWA website.  A new newsletter publication Museum Sparks with up to-date news, events, and happenings at the Antique Wireless Museum will be published quarterly and current and past issues are also available on the website.

2017-07-01 Bruce Roloson W2BDR, AWA Curator, retires and Lynn Bisha, W2BSN, AWA Associate Curator, is elected AWA Curator effective July 1, 2017

Bruce Roloson W2BDR has retired as AWA Curator effective July 1, 2017.  He is succeeded by Lynn Bisha W2BSN as AWA Curator.  The Board has expressed their sincere appreciation for Bruce’s leadership and guidance during his tenure which saw the transition from a modest museum at the Bloomfield Academy to today’s world-class museum on the Thomas Peterson Jr. AWA Museum and Research Campus and a huge increase in the size and quality of the Museum collection. Bruce has indicated that he will continue to be a key member of the Museum Staff, but seeks to devote more time to museum exhibit design and educational programming.
Prior to his election as Curator, Lynn has served as Associate Curator.  He has been a key member of the AWA management team and brings an amazing wealth of communication knowledge in general and knowledge of the AWA collection specifically.  Lynn will do an excellent job as Curator and we wish him well in his new position.

Antique Wireless Association and Collins Collectors Association sign a Joint Membership Program Memorandum of Understanding

2016-10-03 - Antique Wireless Association and Collins Collectors Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that seeks to promote both organizations and to provide additional benefits to members.  Under the terms of the MOU, members of both clubs will receive a 5% discount on their membership dues for either existing or new memberships.  This agreement is effective immediately.  If you are a member of Collins Collectors Association, you may join or renew your Antique Wireless Association dues for $33 ($38 non US).  AWA believes this MOU will open avenues for existing or new members for both AWA and CCA, and we are excited to offer a Joint Membership Program with CCA.

Antique Wireless Association was formed in 1952 and is an educational non-profit chartered by the State of New York.  AWA operates the Antique Wireless Museum in Bloomfield, New York and is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of technology used to communicate and entertain from the first telegram to today’s wireless text messaging.  The Museum is open Saturdays, 1 pm to 5 pm and Tuesdays 10 am to 3 pm, but closed on major holiday weekends.

Collins Collectors Association is operated solely for the benefit of the members and to further the stated objectives of fostering preservation and documentation of the anecdotal history of Collins Radio Company and Rockwell Collins as well as its employees.
